A day at the Palace
Volunteering isn’t just about the weekly meeting – our volunteers have the opportunity to take part in some amazing and unique experiences as Lucy recently told us….
“My name is Lucy and I’m a brownie leader in Bramhall.
On Tuesday 15th may 2018 I got the amazing honour to work with 11 members of Girlguiding from across the north west to represent Girlguiding working as part of the service crew at Buckingham palace garden party.
The whole day was absolutely amazing, I started my duties by greeting guests on the main terrace door, then the 5 of us on duty on the terrace watched The Queen and the other royals walk out on the terrace and go down into the garden. The royals there were the Queen, the Duke of York and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
We also got to be bodyguards for a little bit on the royal tea tent and the diplomats tea tent. The whole day was amazing and we got front row stance to see The Queen and the royals as they left the garden party.”
