Girlguiding Stockport’s Swiss Adventure

“Let’s go to Switzerland” said our cc Sue Beck
Some weren’t too sure but we said, “go on what the heck!”
Chris and Kirsty quickly sprang to life
And recruited a core team to keep them out of strife!

We saved up our pennies and fundraised some more
With bag packs and a badge day where we made more than a smore!
There were lots of things to organise and plan,
But of course we all know that ‘Girls Can’!

Well what a week we’ve had
Some would think we are quite mad
101 of us (but no Cruella De Ville) from Girlguiding Stockport, came
to Adelboden of World Centre Fame

We had Girls and Leaders from units right across Stockport,
As well as some extra adults for added support.
Reddish, Bramhall, Stockport St George’s and Heald Green,
As well as Cheadle Hulme and Gatley we’ve all made a great team.

Trachsels 1 and 2 have been our home for the stay
But we’ve not rested much, we’ve been busy busy each day!
We’ve tobogganed, rafted, climbed & zipped
It’s only a couple of times the leaders have flipped!!!

We’ve seen picture post card views
The best that you could choose
We’ve swam in a lake and slept in straw
We’ve even had fun when we’ve had to do our chore!

We’ve really got to know each other, laughed a lot and even shed some tears,
But we know that we’ve made memories that will last for many many years.
So make sure you tell your friends of the adventure that you’ve had,
You’ve really got stuck in, made us proud and glad.

You should now that you have the skills to take on life with all your might,
Wherever you go and whatever you do, keep your guiding light shining bright.
