Girlguiding Stockport provides a safe, girls only space to allow over 2,000 girls the opportunity to learn new skills and take part in adventures.
Nestled between the hustle and bustle of Manchester city centre and the tranquillity of the Peak District, our girls challenge themselves, try new activities and build lasting friendships.
As part of the leading charity for girls and women across the whole of the UK, Girlguiding Stockport have been providing a welcoming space for girls to be themselves for over 100years. Thanks to a team of over 620 volunteers we run nearly 160 units across all age ranges, bringing Guiding to over 2000 girls. We are proud to welcome all girls and through fun, friendship, challenge and adventure encourage girls to be themselves, make a difference in their community, together being a powerful force for good.
Our vision is to have sufficient adult leaders in our county to enable every girl and young woman to have the opportunity to join Girlguiding Stockport. Become part of this today!

Brownies have amazing experiences together, making friends and trying new things. Working through the guiding programme they earn badges, play games and challenge themselves. They may spend their first night away, attend special events and try new adventurous activities. “It’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done! Come and be part of it! When people ask me why I’m a Brownie and Guide Leader, I usually say it’s because of the amazing girls. We really DO make a difference to these girls lives. But I would also like to add it’s because of the amazing women and girls that volunteer all over Stockport and I would like to thank each and everyone of them for the laughs, the dancing, the games at the stories and the shared experience.” – Liz a Leader in Bramhall
“A couple of years ago at the “Stockport Celebrates” event, I sat down at a table that had a pebble on which said, “Girlguiding is where I became acquainted with the idea that women and girls can do anything”, and I can’t think of a better way of putting it. I absolutely love the opportunities that we provide for young women and girls. Through Guiding I’ve travelled the world, faced many fears, made lifelong friends and challenged myself beyond belief. I feel so proud to be part of the world’s largest female only organisation – Girl Power at its best!” – Jess, Leader and Guide Adviser, Reddish

Many members pass on their skills and knowledge to local guiding units, from helping Brownies work towards a badge to preparing older girls for a camping adventure. Many members are unit leaders or helpers in Girlguiding units.
But it’s not all about the girls – there are plenty or opportunities for members to try something new, take on a new personal challenge and escape the daily routine. The best thing is that what you do is up to you!
